Join Art Gene for the opening celebration of the 'Deluge' exhibition in the Art Gene Gallery at the Nan Tait Centre, Barrow-in-Furness.
'Deluge' marks the culmination of a three-year project and collaboration between Art Gene, Art Walk Projects (Edinburgh) and curator Anna-Rosja Haveman (University of Groningen). The project explores three tidal wetland ecosystems across three sites (Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria; Aberlady, East Lothian, and The Waddensea, Groningen, The Netherlands) with artists Dana Olărescu, Oscar Van Heek and Linde Ex.
Since 2022, each artist has taken time to explore and research their local saltmarsh ecosystem before travelling to the other two locations to make connections across all three places.
A series of subsequent public engagement events took place with the artists leading walks and workshops within the three habitats, to explore, for example, alternative outdoor advertising, shapes of the land, and drawing, all of which has fed into each of the artists' research and learning.
Join us on the opening night. This is a free event with a light buffet and refreshments for all – arrive before 8pm. Click link below to book via Eventbrite.
