Fridays 10:00am-12:30pm.
Warrior Down offers substance misuse services with soul.
They emphasise the transformative power of lived experience in recovery, highlighting its role in building authentic connections, reducing stigma, and empowering individuals. By valuing firsthand insights from those who have faced mental health challenges, addiction, or trauma, they foster a compassionate, inclusive, and effective recovery approach.
Reducing Stigma:
The stigma around mental health and addiction often deters individuals from seeking help due to fear of judgment or discrimination. Lived experience is key to breaking down these barriers. By openly sharing personal struggles and triumphs, individuals help humanise these issues, challenge misconceptions, and promote a more compassionate and informed understanding of recovery.
Lived Experience Support:
Peer support leverages lived experience by connecting individuals who have faced similar challenges. In peer-led recovery programmes, supporters offer unique emotional and practical guidance based on their firsthand understanding. This relatability fosters mutual respect, motivation, and accountability, strengthening the recovery journey and making the support more impactful than traditional professional approaches.
