Furness Education & Skills Partnership

Helping students in the Furness area to build skills and aspirations - Furness Education & Skills Partnership (FESP) is a partnership of schools, colleges, local employers and agencies which recognise the need to equip local young people with the knowledge, skills and aspirations relevant to a competitive 21st century marketplace.

FESP was established in July 2011, and facilitates projects, events and links which enable and drive enterprise, innovation and long-term growth in the local, regional and national economy.

FESP's aims and objectives are:

  • To form a balanced and effective local education and business partnership to raise awareness of potential career pathways for young people, not only in the minds of young people themselves, but also in the minds of their teachers and their parents.
  • To raise young people’s aspirations by providing current, real-world applied learning opportunities for young people in all three education phases.
  • To develop those transferable skills which will aid young people at key transition points in their education and into the world of work and aid in the development of well-informed, work-ready and employable young people.
