Love Barrow Families was founded in 2014 by two local public service workers, Katrina Robson and Alison Tooby, and was co-designed with local families and practitioners using co-production principles. Love Barrow Families is rooted in our community and has grown from the ground upwards.

They offer brews and "fare share" food on Thursdays from 9:00am so you can pop along and fill a bag for free. Call 01229 823020.

They are a team of co-located health and social care workers across child and adult services and based in the Firemasters house in the Old Firestation in the centre of Barrow-in-Furness. They believe that in order to genuinely help families who face complex problems and often receive fragmented services there is a need to really listen and understand. They also believe that it is time to move away from public services that determine what families need and instead to see people themselves as active participants who can ask for what they need and bring assets and skills to share.

Love Barrow Families try to provide what families themselves have asked for, eg. a service for whole families, joining up child and adult mental health and social care, based on compassion and understanding, one main keyworker who acts as a transitional attachment figure, early help from the local community and an ability to be clear and honest with families when there are child protection issues.

Love Barrow families became a Community Interest Company in February 2017.
